How to get to Manzanita Village
PLEASE NOTE: You Can’t Get Here by relying on Mapquest, Yahoo, GPS etc.
We have included a Google Map below for your convenience. Used it to get to the general area.
We recommend that you use the printed information lower down the page for specific directions to Manzanita Village Retreat.
Time of Arrival: Unless otherwise stated, plan to arrive (for scheduled retreats) mid-afternoon of the first day.
Plan to leave no earlier than 3:00 PM of the final day
If you are arriving late or plan to attend a retreat in progress come anytime before 8:00 PM
Please Note: If you coming to Manzanita Village on a weekday from the Los Angeles area
we strongly recommend that you leave town by 1:00 PM to avoid rush hour traffic!
This is especially true on Fridays and before a holiday weekend.

When you arrive at Manzanita Village
Driving from West Los Angeles-2½-3 hours
Allow more time if you are leaving town after 1 PM
especially on Fridays or holiday weekends
* Take the 405 to LAX, just south of LAX take the
* 105 east. Go 17 miles to the
* 605 south, Go about a mile to the
* 91 east. Go 34 miles to Corona. Take the
* 15 south. (This is approximately 1 hour driving time)
* At Corona take the 15 south. GO 40 Miles to Temecula
* You will pass the 79 north exit at Winchester.DO NOT EXIT.
Continue past the Rancho California exit.
* Take the 79 SOUTH exit.
* Turn left. Go under freeway and go straight.
* After 18 miles you will come to Aguanga.
* Continue straight on the 79 at the stop sign
* You will pass Oak Grove.
* Thirty miles from Temecula you pass Sunshine Summit.

Continue on the 79 south towards Warner Springs
Go another 4 miles.
* Then a quarter of a mile after you cross a concrete bridge
* You will see a large sign “Puerta La Cruz Conservation Camp.”
* Turn left.
* Go 300 yards to the first opening in the
fence that is to your right. Turn right over the cattle grid onto the
dirt road. Go three-quarters of a mile to the fork. Take the left fork.
Continue another quarter mile and you will come to Manzanita Village.
From Sunshine Summit
Continue on the 79 south towards Warner Springs
Go another 4 miles.
* Then a quarter of a mile after you cross a concrete bridge
* You will see a large sign “Puerta La Cruz Conservation Camp.”
* Turn left.
* Go 300 yards to the first opening in the
fence that is to your right. Turn right over the cattle grid onto the
dirt road. Go three-quarters of a mile to the fork. Take the left fork.
Continue another quarter mile and you will come to Manzanita Village.
Driving from the Hollywood Area-2½-3 hours
Allow more time if you are leaving town after 1 PM
especially on Fridays or holiday weekends
* Take the 110 to 5 south to 91, then East to the 15 south, then south
to Temecula. Follow directions above
OR (depending on traffic)
* Take the 60 or the 10 east to the 15 south, then south to Temecula.
* Take the 79 SOUTH exit.
* Turn left. Go under freeway and go straight.
* After 18 miles you will come to Aguanga.
* Continue straight on the 79 at the stop sign
* You will pass Oak Grove.

Driving from the San Fernando Valley 2½-3 hours
Allow more time if you are leaving town after 1 PM

* Take the 101 to the 134 to the 210 to the 57 south to the 10
(depending on traffic you can go East
to the 15 south on either the 210, or the 10)
* Or from the 57 (at the 10) take the 71 Corona Expressway to the 91 east to Corona.
(This is a shortcut an is approximately 1 hour driving time, though not advisable at rush hour)
* Take the 15 south. From there go 40 Miles to Temecula.
You will pass the 79 north exit at Winchester.
DO NOT EXIT. Continue past the Rancho California exit.
* Take the 79 SOUTH exit.
* Turn left. Go under freeway and go straight.
* After 18 miles you will come to Aguanga.
* Continue straight on the 79 at the stop sign
* You will pass Oak Grove.
* Thirty miles from Temecula you pass Sunshine Summit.

* Take the 5 south to Oceanside.
* Take the 76 east exit.
* Continue through Bonsal until you get to the 15.
* Go north to Temecula, Exit at 79 south.
* Turn right. Go straight.
* After 18 miles you will come to Aguanga.
* Continue straight on the 79 at the stop sign
* You will pass Oak Grove.
* Thirty miles from Temecula you pass Sunshine Summit.

Driving From San Diego-1½ hours

* Take the 8 east to 67 north through Lakeside,
* Continue on the 78 through Ramona to Santa Ysabel.
* Turn left onto Hwy 79.
* Go through Warner Springs (a post office and a gas station).
* Two miles beyond Warner Springs you will pass an airstrip.
* Continue another two miles until you come to the “Puerta La Cruz Conservation Camp” sign.
* Turn right.
* Go 300 yards to the first opening in the
fence that is to your right. Turn right over the cattle grid onto the
dirt road. Go three-quarters of a mile to the fork. Take the left fork.
Continue another quarter mile and you will come to Manzanita Village.
From Escondido
* Take Valley Parkway east through Valley Center. Keep going through
the Rincon Reservation until the road T’s at the 76.
* Turn right towards Lake Henshaw, past the lake until 76 tees at the
79. Turn left towards Warner Springs.
(Warner Springs consists of a gas station, a small resort, and a post office)

From Warner Springs
* Continue from Warner Springs north on the 79.
* Two miles beyond Warner Springs you will pass an airstrip.
* Continue another two miles until you come to the “Puerta La Cruz Conservation Camp” sign.
* Turn right.
* Go 300 yards to the first opening in the
fence that is to your right. Turn right over the cattle grid onto the
dirt road. Go three-quarters of a mile to the fork. Take the left fork.
Continue another quarter mile and you will come to Manzanita Village.
Driving from the San Francisco Bay Area-9 hours
Check out Iinvisible 5 Audio Project
It’s a self-guided critical audio tour along Interstate 5 between
San Francisco and Los Angeles. It uses the format of a museum
audio tour to guide the listener along the highway landscape.
* Take the 580 to the 5 and head south with a good
attitude and perhaps some good music to listen to.
* After the grapevine, the steep incline that takes you out of the San
Joaquin Valley, continue about 50 miles, Then, to avoid driving through
the center of Los Angeles take the 210 towards Pasadena.
Continue on the 210 to the 15 south.
* Go south on the 15 about 50 Miles to Temecula You will pass
the 79 north exit at Winchester. DO NOT EXIT. Continue past the Rancho
California exit.
* Take the 79 SOUTH exit.
* Turn left. Go under freeway and go straight.
* After 18 miles you will come to Aguanga.
* Continue straight on the 79 at the stop sign

Driving From Arizona
* Take the 10 west through Blythe etc.
* At Coachella take CA-111 exit towards Indio/Palm Desert. Turn immediately
left onto Auto Center Drive then after a mile turn right on 46th Ave.
Stay straight to go onto CA-111. Go ten miles to Pines. Turn left onto
Palms Highway which will become Hwy 74. Go twenty miles. Turn left onto
Hwy 371.
* Continue to the stop sign at Aguanga
* Turn left towards Warner Springs.
* You will pass Oak Grove.
* Thirty miles from Temecula you pass Sunshine Summit.

* Turn left.
* Go 300 yards to the first opening in the

Driving from Arizona On the 8
*Though Yuma on the 8 to Ocotillo, Take the S2 to the 79 just south
of Warner Springs. Turn right towards Warner Springs.
* Continue on the 79 north.
* Two miles beyond Warner Springs you will pass an airstrip.
* Continue another two miles until you come to the “Puerta La Cruz Conservation Camp” sign.
* Turn right.
* Go 300 yards to the first opening in the
fence that is to your right. Turn right over the cattle grid onto the
dirt road. Go three-quarters of a mile to the fork. Take the left fork.
Continue another quarter mile and you will come to Manzanita Village
Arriving by Air
San Diego or Ontario are the closest airports.
There is no public transport from Ontario but we will be more likely to arrange a ride for you from someone driving from Los Angeles.
Buses from San Diego
Public transport from San Diego to Warner Springs
is limited but there are buses from the El Cajon Transit Center to
Santa Ysabel on weekdays
and once a week occasionally to Warner Springs (days vary)
where we can arrange for you to be picked up,

To get from San Diego airport to the El Cajon Transit Center
take the 992 bus to the closest trolley stop (Broadway and Ketner)
and from there take the trolley east to El Cajon.
If you are coming to a scheduled retreat we can sometimes arrange carpooling
from Los Angeles or Ontario. This is usually easier
than picking you up from San Diego. Call us well in advance to help
us to arrange a ride for you.
If you plan to rent a car we recommend flying to Ontario Airport to
avoid San Diego traffic.
From Ontario Airport
Go to the 60 and drive east in the direction of riverside about 5 miles
to the 15. Go south on the 15 for about 50 miles to Temecula You will
pass the 79 north exit at Winchester. DO NOT EXIT. Continue past the
Rancho California exit.
* Take the 79 SOUTH exit.
* Turn left. Go under freeway and go straight.
* After 18 miles you will come to Aguanga.
* Continue straight on the 79 at the stop sign
* You will pass Oak Grove.

There is a greyhound bus station at Temecula
where we can arrange to pick you up
Arrival at Manzanita Village
Plan to arrive at least an hour prior to the starting time
of the retreat or workshop you are attending.
In wintertime please arrive before dark if possible.
If you have paid a deposit, the balance is due on arrival.
